Excitement builds as Rollercity Rochdale launches a UK-wide search for new Choir singing Competition, with cash prizes and recording studio time for winners.
If you have ever dreamed of stepping onto the stage to wow audiences with your amazing voice, then your dream could now become a reality with the launch of a new UK-wide search for super talented local singers. The grass-roots singing competition aims to discover the best up and coming talent and offer them a huge platform and cash prizes.
The Next Big Thing, a new singing competition run by Rollercity Rochdale, one of the largest entertainment venues in the region, launched in July and has already proven a huge success with entries flooding in from all over the nation, all looking to battle it out in the live rounds and win the top cash prize. The main public show is open to all choir groups who think they stand a chance of winning the crowds and judges over and snag the grand prize at the Final.
“It’s a fantastic platform for local talent,” says local vocal coach Rachel Blinkhorn of Vocal Vibes Academy “there is so much talent in the region, and outside of the big televised programmes like X-Factor and The Voice, there aren’t a great number of opportunities for choirs looking to get their first break.”
Breaking into the digital age, The Next Big Thing is allowing entrants to submit initial video auditions via Facebook, which has already seen a flood of videos submitted. Choir groups will be invited to face to face auditions before successful auditionees are put through their paces at Bootcamp where they will work with local performance coaches to further hone their skills. After Bootcamp, the best Performers will then go through to Live Semi-Final shows before the Grand Final.
